Avg antivirus does not update

I am not alone with this problem. There are many posts in this forum about it. I cannot believe the only answer is to update to the latest version of AVG. It's not recommended to use AVG AVG is the only version we should recommend and help with installing. We stopped providing updates to the old version and all users should have latest version which is built on Avast technology - this will help users to get the best protection and developers to fix issues faster.

I'm not understanding why this would be a requirement of deleting a program that apparently can be reinstalled after the update is completed, anyway even if I've deleted the program about five times. At any rate, a quick and easy fix to get this confounded update would be nice since I don't have AVG Antivirus on my computer. I removed all update files and restarted wuauserv. I have downloaded and run AppRPS but the numeric references supposedly to folders have null parameters - all instances refer to AVG requiring to be uninstalled.

This happened before, and I had to clean wipe from my computer and reinstall, id rather NOT have to do that again for it to do its job. The application is updated already, just not the definitions.
